MSC Cruises today announced a major order for four next-generation cruise ships, with two additional options, to be built by MEYER WERFT in Papenburg. This marks the launch of the new “New Frontier” platform – an entirely new class of ships. The order secures full capacity utilization of the shipyard well into the next decade.

What began shortly before Christmas quickly developed into an impressive logistical achievement. Together with strong partners, Rhenus Midgard in Nordenham successfully mastered the challenge of supplying around 12,000 tons of high-quality river sand to an HVDC converter construction site on time—despite tight deadlines and winter conditions.

Patrick Oestreich (46) will join the Executive Board on February 1, 2026, and will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2026. Dr. Jörg Mosolf will support the transition in his current role until his age-related retirement on June 30, 2026. Dr. Mosolf will continue to serve as Managing Director of MOSOLF Port Logistics & Services and will remain closely involved as an advisor to the Executive Board in the areas of M&A and corporate strategy.
